David McGowan

CEO and Lecturer

David is a founding member of the Professional Embalmers' Association of Ireland (PEAI) of Ireland (PEAI) and CEO of McGowan’s Funeral Services, Ballina, Co. Mayo and Foley and McGowan's Funeral Home, Sligo town. He is a well known industry expert and has been providing training in embalming and funeral directing services for over 28 years. David has given many presentations at home and abroad on topics relating to funeral direction and embalming, and has represented Ireland on many occasions in many roles including National Chairperson of the BIE 1994/1995 and National representative to the EAE.

Mary Mulchrone (McGowan)

Director and Practical Trainer


Mary is a funeral director and embalmer with McGowan’s Funeral Services, Ballina, Co. Mayo and Foley and McGowan's Funeral Home, Sligo town,, and is a member of the Professional Embalmers' Association of Ireland (PEAI).

Mary holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Translational Oncology from Trinity College Dublin and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Anatomy from NUI Galway.

Martina Burns

Registrar and Practical Trainer

Martina is a funeral director and embalmer with McGowan’s Funeral Services, Ballina, Co. Mayo and Foley and McGowan's Funeral Home, Sligo town.

Martina is a member of Professional Embalmers' Association of Ireland (PEAI).

Dundalk native Martina Burns works in Ballina since moving there almost twenty years ago to train with funeral director David McGowan.
